I am always so excited to work with kids! I love nurturing a child's talents and interests and witnessing their growth. Helping kids embrace challenge, flexibility, and creativity is so rewarding. Taking the time to engage with kids fosters curiosity around food reducing picky eating and forming healthy habits around cooking and eating for life.
Having open communication with parents about boundaries and rules for their children is paramount to creating a trusting and respectful environment for the whole family. Using clear language and patience to communicate expectations, and being firm and consistent about those expectations is so important for creating a sense of predictability and safety at home. By building charts, diagrams, to-do list, and other visual representations, allows children to take an active part in defining rules and gives them a sense of ownership over those expectations. Adjusting boundaries as children grow and learn is always something I prioritize collaborating with parents on.
Every child struggles with new challenges daily, I prioritize fostering a safe space for clear communication to understand the child's needs and explain the boundaries and expectations that their parents have set for them. Positive reinforcement of controlled behavior and appropriate emotional regulation is such an important part of managing challenging behavior. I love creating games or playing to help kids learn complicated social interactions and emotions (e.g. jealousy, worry, being left out, unfairness, etc.) new skills or take on new responsibilities.
I love creating games for kids that help them learn new skills or take on new responsibilities. Matching games, flashcards, colouring projects and sensory/ coordination activities are some of my favourite. Getting kids active through exercises, sports, dance and outdoor play is vital to regulating emotions, sleep and healthy growth.
